A sweet voiced tenor and guitarist who joined the Grand Ole Opry in 1951 but whose singing career was cut short by a serious throat infection in the mid 1950s’ He then made use of his guitarist skills, evolving into a bass player with various jazz ensembles. His excellent country credentials are showcased in this 23 track selection, nice mix of songs and tempos, all solid country with plenty of fiddle, piano and Hawaiian tinged steel. Amazing how someone of this calibre has dropped into oblivion.
