25 Capitol transcriptions from the mid 1940s. The Coonhunters group is usually associated with Merle Travis and Wesley Tuttle, but on this set of recordings it is primarily Merle on lead vocals; exciting mix of old and new songs, several of the new ones penned by Merle and featuring a fine group of session musicians including 'Herman The Hermit' on banjo and Charlie Lindville on fiddle. From the banter, it is clear the boys are having fun, whilst creating some great music.
