March 17th –  anniversary of the passing of Bill Carlisle (December 19, 1908–March 17, 2003), influential American country singer/songwriter and guitarist popular in the late 1940s and 1950s. Left an extensive legacy of recordings some by himself and some as a duo with brother Cliff (the steel guitar ace who recorded with Jimmie Rodgers in 1931). BACM have rleased a compilation of his 1930s (mainly) solo recordings (BACM CD 034) another of recordings with brother Cliff, recorded in the 1946/47 period as the Carlisle Brothers (BACM CD 600).
