June 8th, remembering Alton Delmore (December 25, 1908 – June 8, 1964) who with brother Rabon comprised the pioneeering and influential Delmore Brothers. Bob Dylan was quoted in the (Chicago Tribune. November 10, 1985): “The Delmore Brothers, God, I really loved them! I think theyve influenced every harmony Ive ever tried to sing”. As Dylans not known for his tuneful harmonising, this is a somewhat dubious endorsement – but they did have a massive influence on generations of ‘Harmony brother acts including the Louvin and Everly Brothers.
