June 9, 2021

9th June – anniversary of Rudy Sooter (June 17, 1904 – June 9, 1991) country music singer, songwriter and band leader – and grizzled baddie in countless B-movie Westerns. Had a talent for attracting top musicians to his band – both Bob Nolan and Roy Rogers were early members. BACM have issued two collections, mainly recordings from the mid 30s to mid 40s, showcase his superb early bands.

Songs mainly upbeat foot-tappers with brilliant guitar/fiddle interplaying, reflecting the developing Western Swing styles of the time.
