6th April – birthday of influential old timey singer, guitarist, harmonica player Henry Whitter (April 6, 1892 – Nov 17, 1941) whose first Okeh Records recordings were cut in 1923, making him one of the first country artistes to record. Four years later he recorded for Victor Records at the famous Bristol Sessions. Also in 1927, Whitter began his musical partnership with the blind fiddler G. B. Grayson (1887-1930) recording as Grayson & Whitter.
