October 3, 2021

3rd October – birthday anniversary of bluesy, comic-country singer Fairley Holden (24 Oct 1916 – 3 Oct 1987). He performed and recorded both solo and as a ‘Holden Brothers’ duo with Milt Jackson. BACM have managed to locate most of his recorded output for our CD. Several tracks include ‘Homer & Jethro’ musicians, Jethro Burns (lead guitar) and Homer Haynes (rhythm) and the first four also feature a young Moon Mullican on piano. One of those now largely forgotten talents well worth a listen. To quote from Kevin Coffey’s liner notes: “… one of the most infectious and distinctive performers to emerge in the early post-war years. His raw energy and unabashedly rural delivery were irresistible”.
