23 June – birthday of Zeb Turner (23 June 1915 – 10 Jan1978) country and Country Boogie singer, songwriter and guitarist. One of the early pioneers of the amplified guitar, by the late ’40s he had become one of the top session men of his era, backing the likes of Hank Williams (that’s him on Wedding Bells) and Red Foley; his most popular composition was the classic Its A Sin. Turner’s distinctive vocals and superb guitar styles are showcased on BACM CD 506:
