2nd March – remembering legendary harmonica player Lonnie Glosson (Lonnie Marvin Glosson 14 Feb 1908 – 2 Mar 2001) whose performing career spanned seven decades from radio appearances on KMOX St. Louis in 1926 through to the 1980s bluegrass festival shows with long time fellow harmonica-duet partner Wayne Raney. The Glosson-Raney partnership began in 1936 and they did much to popularize the harmonica (reportedly they shifted more than 5 million harmonicas through their radio shows which were sponsored by a harmonica brand). In 1949 they began their association with the Delmore Brothers with whom they cut some superb recordings on the King label. BACM have not yet issued a dedicated CD but Glosson can be heard on several of our CDs including CD 315 (Wayne Raney Featuring The Delmore Brothers) and A Taste Of King (CD093).
