27 Oct – remembering Alabama born country musician and songwriter Freddie Hart (Frederick Segrest, 21 Dec 1926 – 27 Oct 2018). A distinctive vocalist, his major influences were Hank Williams whom Hart worked for briefly as a roadie and Lefty Frizzell with whom Hart worked until 1953 when Hart got his record deal with Capitol. He scored a chart-topping pop hit in 1971 with Easy Lovin’. He was also an accomplished songwriter with his songs being recorded by the likes of Patsy Cline, George Jones, Porter Wagoner and Lefty Frizzell. BACM have at last got around to issuing a CD compilation showcasing some of his country recordings, mainly from the early 1950s before he achieved wide fame.
