27 May –birthday of Redd Stewart (May 27, 1923 – August 2, 2003), mellow-voiced country music musician / songwriter and long term collaborator with bandleader Pee Wee King. He took over as lead singer with Kings band when Eddie Arnold left in the late 1940s and their songwriting partnership included several country Top 10 hits including Tennesse Waltz.
