26 December – remembering Joe Shelton (27 Jan 1911- 26 Dec 1980) of the Shelton Brothers, (Bob, Joe and, joining later, Merle), pioneering country musicians from Texas who recorded prolifically from the mid 1930s through to the early 1960s. Featuring superb harmonies, and eclectic musicianship, they were among the most popular radio and recording acts of their era, and were hugely influential, including on the developing bluegrass, honky tonk and Western Swing genres. All three were accomplished guitarists, Joe also playing mandolin and Bob, fiddle. BACM have so far issued three compilations, celebrating their important legacy.
