25th April – birthday of Sons of the Pioneers guitarist, Karl Farr (Apr 25, 1909 – Sep 20, 1961) who began mastered mandolin at age seven, soon followed by banjo and finally the guitar. In 1935, joined brother Hugh Farr (fiddle) on The Sons Of The Pioneers, as lead guitarist. The Farr Brothers created instrumental magic on countless recordings with the Pioneers, with whom they remained for over 20 years. It was during one of their (Sons Of The Pioneers) shows in September 1961, that Karl broke a guitar string during a solo and, whilst changing it, collapsed and died of a heart attack.
