22 May, anniversary of Glenn Tubb (Glenn Douglas Tubb, 25 June 1935-22 May 2021) hard-edged country singer-songwriter, nowadays best remembered for his skills as a songwriter his songs having been recorded by the likes of Kitty Wells, Hank Williams Jr, Dwight Yoakam, Charlie Louvin, Charley Pride, Bob Dylan, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Hawkshaw Hawkins, Gene Watson and Jack Barlowe. Right through to his mid 80s he continued to play an important role keeping the Tubb name in front of audiences through his involvement with the Midnight Jamboree, founded by his uncle, Ernest Tubb in 1947. We will keep an eye out for a planned documentary film which he had been working on at the time of his passing.
