1st June – birthday of country music singer, musician and songwriter Johnny Bond (Cyrus Whitfield Bond, June 1, 1915 – June 12, 1978). His distinctive baritone was ideally suited both to the Western and drinking/honky tonk styles featured on many of his recordings, scoring several Billboard country top 10 hits between 1947 (“Divorce Me C.O.D.”) and 1965 when he scored his biggest hit, “Ten Little Bottles”. His song writing credits include several which have gone on to become country classics including Cimarron, I Wonder Where You Are Tonight and Ill Step Aside. BACM have released two compilations of his harmony trio recordings with Jimmy Wakely and Dick Reinhart (BACM CDs 102 and 384) as well as this 26 track mix of commercial and rare transcriptions and demos
