Jimmy Thomason was a fine singer and excellent fiddle player from Waco Texas who played an important role in the development of what became known as The Bakersfield Sound from the early 1950s onwards. Back in the early 1930’s he was leading his own bands whilst barely beyond his mid teens and in 1936 the 18 year old Tomason was star vocalist and fiddle player on some superb Doug Bines & His Dixie Ramblers recordings. Other early cuts on our CD include Tomason alongside Moon Mullican (as The Sunshine Boys, 1937) and several early 1940s recordings with the Shelton Brothers. Thomason’s fiddle playing can also be heard on our Shelton Brothers CDs, BACM 10, 370 and 562 respectively and several later-era tracks recorded under his own name are on our Swinging On The Brazos CD 561.
