This CD covers late 1940s/early 1950s recordings from record labels in West Texas and the Texas Panhandle, an area of Texas which although sparsely populated has always had a vibrant and lively music scene. Artists featured include Billy Briggs (of Chew Tobacco Rag fame, see BACM489; steel guitar and vocals) and legendary guitarist Bill Carson – the man whom Leo Fender designed the Stratocaster guitar for. A couple of neat novelty songs from gifted blind singer/songwriter Leroy Jenkins.
