November 5th. Remembering “Governor” Jimmie Davis (September 11, 1899 – November 5, 2000), country musician and songwriter who served two non-consecutive terms as Louisiana State governor. Best known for “You are my sunshine” , “Nobody’s Darling But Mine” and There’s a New Moon Over My Shoulder”. BACM have so far produced one dedicated CD of his work. Also our Louisiana Stomp collection, dedicated to the 1930s/40s Shreveport scene features a few more of his early recordings. Decades later, his Where The Old Red River Flows crept into the lower reaches of the Billboard charts and is on one of our Chart Memories series (1962 Vol 4):
