Remembering Jimmie Rodgers (September 8, 1897 – May 26, 1933), first country music superstar, famed for his “Blue Yodels” and a big influence on generations of country, blues and pop artists. His recordings are widely available, notably on the great Bear Family “The Singing Brakeman” 6-CD set (recommended). He spawned many imitators and his songs have been widely recorded.
