March 14th– anniversary of American singing cowboy yodeler, Tex Fletcher (Geremino Bisceglia, Jan 17, 1910 – Mar14, 1987). Born in New York, he left home aged 15 to join a circus which took him across the US and Canada before settling in South Dakota where he learned to handle horse and cattle while soaking up cowboy lore and campfire songs, becoming a real cowboy. He returned to New York in the early 30’s and took a radio job as a singing cowboy and landed a record deal with Decca which lasted well into the 1950s.
