March 11th. Remembering Jim Boyd, (Sept 28, 1914-Mar 11, 1993), versatile singer and multi instrumentalist (guitarist/bass/ mandolin/banjo) who played an important role in the early development of Western Swing in the early ‘40s. He went on to enjoy a long career, featuring in several ace bands over the years including (brother) Bill Boyd’s the Cowboy Ramblers. W. Lee O’Daniel’s Hillbilly Boys and the legendary Light Crust Doughboys.
