The first artist to use the term ‘Honky Tonk’ in a song (Honky Tonk Blues, 1936), but best known for his song “Pistol Packing Mama” , massive hit for Bing Crosby and the Andrews Sisters. BACM’s first CD compilation has 26 tracks from the 1930s/40s including the sequel to his “Pistol Packing Mama” smash. A second CD has more of his early 1930s recordings plus a selection from the 1950s when he was achieving some crossover success.
