December 9th. Remembering Tommy Jackson ( March 31, 1926 – December 9, 1979), virtuoso fiddle player who played and recorded with just about every country star of his era including Hank Williams (eg: on ‘I saw the light’ and ‘Lovesick Blues) and Ray Price – playing on virtually every Price recording from 1956′s Crazy Arms onward. Also found time to cut 11 albums himself. He influenced a whole generation of top fiddle players but sadly is today largely forgotten. The Archive have compiled a CD of 26 of Jackson’s great DOT recordings … upbeat, feel good, foot stompin’ – fiddle, guitar, mandolin, all the classic tunes – recommended for hot line-dancing!
