December 7th. Remembering influential American Country/ Western Swing singer and guitarist Bill Boyd (William Lemuel Boyd, September 29, 1910 – December 7, 1977). When just 22 he played on several classic Jimmie Rodgers recordings including Hobo’s Mediation and Roll Along Kentucky Moon. From the mid ’30s on, Bill and his Cowboy Ramblers were one of the pioneers of the hot , jazz-tinged country sound, later branded as ‘Western Swing’.
