9 Jan. Birthday of no-frills honky tonk singer Bill Dudley (b. 9th Jan 1923 d. 2001), whose recording career in 1953, one of many Hank Williams soundalikes but who later developed his own distinctive sound and was a regular on the big star tours through the 1950s appearing alongside the likes of Ernest Tubb and Roy Acuff. He never made the big time but deserves a listen; BACM’s CD has a good hour of good authentic stripped-down country.
