Dale Evans 153

October 31, 2017

31 October. Birthday of  Dale Evans (31 Oct 1912-7 Feb 2001, born Frances Octavia Smith) whose showbiz career began as a featured vocalist with a pop/jazz orchestra in the late 1930s. She then began writing songs and for a time had her own “That Gal From Texas” radio show before landing a starring part in 1944 in “The Cowboy And The Senorita” when she was teamed with the already popular singing cowboy Roy Rogers.  This began one of the most successful Western husband and wife partnerships – they made 28 movies together and, along with dog Trigger, became something of a national treasure on radio and TV into the ’50s.  This compilation showcases some of her solo recordings along with some late ’40′s radio takes
