31 March – Remembering both Dewey Groom and Howdy Forrester.
DEWEY GROOM ( Apr 30, 1918- Mar 31, 1997), country singer, band leader (including of Dewey Groom and his Texans) – as well as club owner (the famed Longhorn Ballroom) and record label owner. His early influences were Jimmie Rodgers and Bob Wills.
HOWDY FORRESTER (Mar 31, 1922 – Aug 1, 1987), American bluegrass/Texas-style fiddler who played with many great acts including Bill Monroe’s Blue Grass Boys, Herald Goodman’s Tennessee Valley Boys (see B.A.C.M. 261, SOUTHEASTERN SWING BANDS)
