23 Jan – Remembering Texas Jim Lewis (Oct 15, 1909 – Jan 23, 1990) American cowboy star, singer, guitarist and Western Swing pioneer whose performing career ran for half a century from live radio spots in the 1920s, through forming his first Western Swing stringband in the 1930s, scoring several hits with his Lone Star Cowboys in the 1940s (including the smash Too Late To Worry, Too Blue To Cry,” which sold 1,250,000) , appeared in 42 movies and who achieved a new lease of popularity as a children’s entertainer (as “Sheriff Tex”) in the early ‘50s. Talented all round entertainer and musician who played a major role bringing Western Swing music to mass audiences. BACM have so far released three compilations.
