21st August – remembering country musician Zeke Morris (Zeke Morris, May 19, 1916 – August 21, 1999), brilliant mandolinist who first recorded with J. E. Mainer’s Crazy Mountaineers in 1935. The Morris brothers (Zeke and brother Wiley on guitar) made their first recordings in 1938, one of the all time great brother harmony duo acts, their Let Me Be Your Salty dog becoming a classic of the genre. Over the years Zeke teamed with many of the finest musicians of the era including Charlie Monroe, Red Rector, Red Smiley, Don Reno and Earl Scruggs.
