13th February – remembering celebrated Aussie country singer, yodeller, guitarist, showman Smoky Dawson MBE (19 March 1913 – 13 February 2008) sometimes cited as ‘Australia’s Gene Autry’. His recording career spanned an amazing 54 years, from 1941 to 1995. The Archive have compiled a CD of his 1941 to 1953, most featuring his excellent and distinctive yodelling skills.
