Jenny Lou Carson 200

January 13, 2018

Jenny Lou Carson, (January 13, 1915–December 16, 1978), born Virginia Lucille Overstake, was a feisty country music singer-songwriter and the first woman to write a No. 1 country music hit (Jealous Heart). She was one of the most prolific songwriters in country music, writing classics such as Let Me Go Lover, A Penny For Your Thoughts and I’d Trade All My tomorrows.  Also had a good country voice, achieving wide popularity popular in the war years with songs aimed at servicemen (hence the “Radio Chin Up Girl” sobriquet) and later as featured vocalist with several top groups. The Country Music Archive have compiled this selection, nice selection reflecting her great voice and versatility.
